First open Escrima seminar of the IUEWT with Grandmaster Rene Latosa

Thrusday, aug 9, 2007 - a day like any other? Not in Velbert! Here the first open to all Escrima seminar started at 1900h with a personal apppearance of Grandmaster Rene Latosa. Why open to all?

The IUEWT (International Union For Escrima & Wing Tsun) as an organizer put herself transparancy and openess on its flag with the foundation process. In order to make this apparent to the outside the seminar was made accessible to everyone who is really interested learning in Escrima and less in political issues.

Although the seminar fell on a Thursday the this special event was attended by many. There were representatives form different associations and federations. Because of the proefessional seminar conduct of Grandmaster Rene Latosa already int he first few minutes any ‚boundaries' were taken down so that the feeling arose that every participant belonged to only one organisation at this very moment - that of Grandmaster Rene Latosa's teaching. By this event the word ‚seminar' regained a new and deeper meaning.

By the sovereignty of explanations nand concepts he completely took every participant into his ban for the length of the whole seminar. Even some teen participants who normally get bored very easily on these events were so caught up that they were completely fatigued after the end - physically and mentally.

The concepts presented by Grandmaster Rene Latosa are sufficiently known - but to turn them into practice is another thing. So things like footwork, anchoring, timing, distance, etc. were explained one by one which was building up on each other and rounded up by examples from daily life in order to practice at place. The resulting homework from this is comprehensive.

The most impressive thing on this seminar (according to several participants) was that it was mainly taught why to do things how they have to be instead of any techinques against any attackes. And if it is considered that Grandmaster Rene Latosa was the one who introduced Escrima in Europe then it can be only imagined how much know-how is embedded in his decadeful of teaching when he can be experienced live.

The immediate demand of all participants: absolutely following up with further seminar with Grandmaster Rene Latosa and to install this as an annual event. Fruther to this Velbert offers an extremely good location to reach very easily and the especially for this seminar provided town hall fitted perfectly in to the whole venue. The IUEWT does everything to realize further events as professionally as possible.
