The 1. step: establishing contat by phone, electronic media or at place in one of our local team schools
in order to set up an appointment for a practical introduction.
The 2. step: the conducting of a practical 2 hour introductary seminar
The 3. step: the participation of a free trial lesson after having passed the introductory seminar
The 4. step: the decision making...
This standard routine is unique to all team schools of the IUEWT. And this for a good reason: You are supposed to experience Escrima as that what it is - an effective form of self defence that is manageable for everyone! And in order to get the feeling fort his by personal self experience without any stress but with a maximum effect it needs a systematic and well devised introduction.
Nobody can convinced of the effectiveness of Escrima without having him being confronted with the technical consistent pressure of the Escrima logic.
Let's imagine a simple example: You go to a car sales and want to decide between to two sports cars. What are the characteristics of your decision? Optical values like spoiler, general design or wheel design? Or do You take each car of Your closer choice to a test drive where You can evaluate its real values like behaviour on high speed, braking, acceleration? Experience shows, that the majority of buyers make up their choice because of such a test drive - for them it is about the core values on high speed, because they have already orientated themselves towards sportive driving. And sportive driving is driving on high speed!
The same applies on the subject of self defence: it is about high speed and about how to handle the behaviour of Your body in extreme situations. As such it is necessary og being introduced into the Escrima logic practically in order to make that experience.
For this the introductary seminar is built up in smallest easy to handle steps for the beginner, that are
absolutey stress free and easy to grasp as well.
Especially on the subject of Escrima it is of the utmost importance to built up the weapon contact as gentle as possible!
Rounded up by the subsequent explanation of theory the beginner is supposed to be prepared in such a way that he can be integrated into the normal training without having to begin all over again and that he can then use this occasion as his trial lesson for 100% in order to really get to know the location, the group, etc. With all this information he is able to make the right decision.
A further advantage is his, that experienced martial artists who is accompanying a layman during an introductary seminar is not going to be under demanded whereas the layman is not going to be overly demanded.
